We know we should do it more often, but why, also, how do you make time for it? 

It has almost got to the point of sounding like a chore, but self-care is important because it is the intentional practice of taking action to improve your physical, emotional and mental health. 

Self-care builds the foundation for resilience and well-being.

The main benefits of practicing self-care are,:

  • Reduces Stress
  • Reduces Anxiety
  • Improves Personal Relationships

Ok, so that is why it is important, but how do we do it without feeling like we are being selfish? 

 

There are so many ways that effective, holistic self-care can be practiced, and just because it is called self-care, it does not mean that you need to do it alone. 

 

If you feel you want to include someone special to you in your process, do it. There are no rules, but here are some ideas to help you along the way.:

  • Read a book, do a puzzle, or learn a new skill. Any of these activities will benefit your mental well-being. 
  • Go for a walk, eat a healthy meal, drink extra water, or get a good night’s rest. Just a couple of ideas to assist your physical well-being.
  • Honour your emotions and feelings, set healthy boundaries, or start a journal. Emotional well-being is vitally important when practising self-care.
  • There are spiritual activities which will aid you, too. Meditate, take time in nature, or practice your particular religion. Just make sure to be true to you.

 

So, what are you waiting for? Get self-caring and find the inner-peace you deserve to tackle any obstacles.
